What is SCC4Transit?

SCC4Transit is a group of volunteers who want to see even better public transit in Santa Clara County. We aim to foster a sense of transit rider identity, promote the good work that our transit agencies are doing, and, most importantly, get more people out of their cars and onto transit.

Public transit is absolutely crucial for San Jose and Santa CC. It reduces congestion on our roads, reduces traffic violence, and is one of the most important factors in San Jose achieving its climate goals.

Tens of thousands of people use VTA, Caltrain, and BART everyday to get to and from work, errands, concerts, games, and visiting friends and family. During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, transit was decimated. Fortunately, thanks to the hard work of dedicated folks here in the South Bay, we’ve had an incredible rebound. VTA has one of the highest recovery rates in the entire country, and is making progress on projects under VTP 2050, such as the Climate Action and Adaption Plan, improved transit speed, and mitigating VMT.

All of this is great news for transit riders in and around San Jose! And we want more great things to keep coming for transit in the South Bay. That’s why SCC4Transit was formed: we want to bring people together to celebrate transit, while also pushing to make sure it gets even better. We’re going to be sharing news and updates from transit operators about initiatives that impact Santa Clara County, and highlighting ways you can get involved in those initiatives.

We’re excited to help get the word out about all things transit in Santa Clara County! Public transit serves all of us, and we all deserve a voice in how that service should look.
